Healthy!!!

James is finally healthy again (I think and hope!) His poopies are back to normal and he hasn't vomited in a few days (I know, TMI but it all comes with having a baby!) But more importantly, he is back to his happy self and eating again. I am hoping that the return to eating also means return to sleeping through the night because James has a tired Mommy and exhausted Daddy (who has been turning his alarm off instead of hitting snooze for the last two mornings accidentally!) It was so wonderful today to have my happy little boy back and my eater back! I missed him so much! However, my "grown up" little boy wants to do what he wants to do and let's me know about it! Diaper changes are NOT okay, all cabinets and drawers should be fully accessible, and EVERY meal should consist of blueberries and bananas! Oh, the joy! My friend, Jen, informed me that it only gets better and better, meaning the opinions get stronger and stronger. Fun!
My "grown up" little boy even wanted to put the cap on his bottle himself this evening. He was sucking on the bottle nipple while I was mixing the water and powder in the bottle. I then asked him for the nipple to put on top of the bottle, he refused to give it to me and instead reached down and tried to put it on the bottle himself. It shocked me that he knew that and made me so proud!
The other "first" today..... James made his very first "brown trout" (as Josh called it) in the bath tub! Unfortunately, it didn't stay as one so James made a very quick exit and the bathtub got it's very own little bath! (Josh usually does baths but had to work late tonight so Mommy got bath duty, lucky me!)
Other quick side note, I love it when my patients get better! One of my patients at work is a young woman with a severe brain injury who typically spends her therapy session yelling at me. Until today... she had a wonderful day today! She had one of her best days yet in all of her therapies. It is just so great to see her get so much better and I am so hopeful that she continues to heal so her little boy can have his mommy back. Unfortunately, her insurance company doesn't see it and wants her to leave since she isn't getting better in their eyes so we are crossing our fingers for her and continuing to celebrate all of her successes! This is why I love my job!
Okie dokie, off to bed for me as I cross my fingers that James decides to sleep through the night. Your mommy and daddy could use it little guy!

  1. I'm glad to hear he is feeling better. We have colds this week, but it sounds like James was much worse off. Good luck with your patient!

  2. You had me rolling on the floor laughing at the brown trout comment! Wait until his uncle Scott hears about that one!

I love your fun stories about your patients! Thanks for sharing!
