Big boy Jack

I am such a proud little mommy today!!!  (I'm not so sure about that "little" part but it sounds good so we will keep it there!)  I don't know if I just haven't been paying attention or if Jack is just taking off developmentally but he has done so many things for the first time today!
While at the mall this morning, Jack signed "more" for the first time.  We were having a snack and I knew he wanted more so I asked him and showed him the sign.  He made fists with his hands and hit his hands together!  So cute!
Then tonight I was holding him when Josh got home so I said, "Daddy's home.  Hi Daddy!"  And lo and behold, Jack responded with "Hi Dada!" Let's just say that Josh was slightly more than ecstatic!!!!  Jack has spent the rest of the night saying "Hi Dada!" and waving!  So cute!!!!
In addition, Jack is now pulling to stand like an expert!  He started pulling to stand last Wednesday in his crib but I didn't get to see it until yesterday because I worked Wednesday-Sunday.  Jack loves getting to see everything from a new angle and being able to reach so much more!  I think his favorite is pulling to stand at the train table so he can knock over the bridge and grab James's trains.  Not exactly James's favorite!!!
Jack was also a rock star at the doctor's this morning.  He now weighs 18lbs 5oz which is the     percentile.  And he got a flu shot without even a wimper!

A quick note on James... who is becoming such a big boy!  I love just getting to hang out and chat with him.  It's amazing what he remembers and what he understands now!  He asked me tonight as we were leaving Costco, "Mommy, why do we have to share the sun?"  At first I was confused but then I remembered that I told him a few weeks ago that the sun goes bye-bye at night because we have to share it and it's someone else's turn to have the sun.  I guess he remembered!  Less than 5 minutes after that, he fell fast asleep in the car at 5pm!  And is still asleep!  (Obviously a no-nap day.)  I am crossing my fingers that he sleeps until 7am but 14 hours of straight sleep sounds a little long.  I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Guess that's about all for now!  Both boys are in bed so I am going to quickly clean up the house and then get off to bed before too late!  Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good night!  :-)

Kindle Fun!

Cute little story before I forget...
A little history first... Josh won a Kindle Fire at work function a few months ago.  At first I was a little skeptical but I have learned to love it, and so has James!  James loves to watch Thomas movies on the Kindle and has even learned how to play/pause the movies and select other movies.  Josh told James a few weeks ago that he has to ask Mommy or Daddy if he wants to watch a new movie so we can make sure it's a free one and he does a great job of that!  That being said...
After lunch yesterday, I quickly checked my email on my phone at work and found that I had 6 new emails from Amazon thanking me for my orders.  Considering I hadn't ordered anything from Amazon while at work I was a little shocked until I looked at what I had "ordered"... The Busy Little Engine, Car Toons: Mater's Tall Tales, etc.  Looks like some little fingers got their hands on my Kindle and helped himself to a few movies!!!  This realization was quickly followed by a call to the nanny asking that the Kindle to go in "timeout" for the rest of the day.  When I got home a quick call to Amazon resulted in the $60 worth of charges being reversed and a short tutorial on the Parental Controls!!!!

Standing!!!!

Jack has been pulling up to his knees the past few days and has been able to get trains off the train table and into other fun things!  Typically, once he gets there he starts whining because he gets stuck.  I had a feeling he was going to be pulling to standing very soon... well, today at work, I got an email from Tanya saying that Jack was standing when she went to get him after his nap.  When I got home Tanya said that Jack had just pulled up to standing at the train table and had pulled up to standing after each nap!!!!  She also said that he squealed in delight each time!  So much fun!!!!
Jack continues to crawl like crazy and is loving being able to play with big brother James so much more!  And Mommy loves watching them play and seeing how much they love each other!
Tanya (our nanny) called with some great news for herself (not so great for us!) yesterday.  She switched from full-time to part-time nanny work in August to get her photography business up and running.  Well, the business has been doing great, so she doesn't need the nanny position anymore.  Bummer!  Tanya is going to stay with us until Christmas time while we try to find someone new.  The goal will be to find someone new to start with us in the new year.  The search begins!!!
Upon James's request, we are off to play with some glue!!!

Comceep

Thought this was the cutest little conversation today as James and I laid down together before nap time...
Mommy: Close your eyes honey.  It's nap time.
James: I can't, there's comceep in them.
Mommy: There's what?
James: There's comceep in them!!!!
Mommy: What???
James: The sidewalk.
Mommy: Concrete???
James: Yeah!  There's comceep in them!
Mommy: What do you mean?
James:  There are bumpies in my eyes!

I think this is the toddler explanation of allergies.  Last year when James and I raked leaves in mid-October, he was very light sensitive and had difficulty opening his eyes for a few days.  Yesterday afternoon, we spent some time playing in the leaves and raking the leaves.  He seemed to be doing fine with it yesterday but I was curious how the next few days were going to go.  I think it's pretty safe to say that he has allergies.  A little trip to the drug store for some eye drops may be in order... but I can't put them in my own eyes, how am I ever going to put them in his???
