Memorial Day

The Slade family usually does a Memorial Day camping trip hosted by Scott and Sarah to help celebrate all the birthdays around that time! Well, Scott and Sarah slacked on their duties this year (i.e. were extremely pregnant and not allowed to go anywhere because Sarah was about to POP!) so Josh made reservations for us to go camping at Icehouse. It's a beautiful area on the way up to Tahoe but unfortunately still a little too beautiful with snow on Memorial Day!!! We were watching the weather and decided it was going to be a little too cold to take a 13 month old camping; luckily, the California State Park system made the same decision and cancelled all reservations until June 12th due to "excessive snow". Good choice!!!!

Instead we decided to join Mom and Dad at the cabin in Arnold instead. At least if it got too cold there, we had a heater, wood burning stove, and indoors!!! We had a great time and got some great pictures!!!!

James helped Daddy start the fire to keep us all warm. James knew that our wood burning stove was "HOT" and told us all the time! (One of his favorite words!) Unfortunately, we forgot to tell James that the neighbors' stove was also hot so he decided to find out for himself. He touched the stove with his fingertips and cried for a few seconds. We rinsed his hands under cold water and thought that everything was okay. Unfortunately, a few hours later James started SCREAMING!!!! We realized that he had blisters on the tips of three of his fingers so we got them wrapped up and he was feeling much better other than having big bandaids at the tips of two fingers!

Luckily they had the help of the little guy to get the refridgerator back in place. Notice the use of only one finger on James' right hand (the two middle ones had bandaids on them so he couldn't use them!)

The weekend was highly productive... fixed the refridgerator, fixed the deck (and did an amazing job!), raked the yard and burned, pulled weeds, played lots of games, ate lots of yummy food, and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors!!!

It is way past my bedtime so it's off to bed for me!!! I will try to get more caught up tomorrow! Love to all!!!!!
