Jack Update

I am having so, so, so much fun with Jack lately!!!  He is becoming quite the little boy and such a little cutie pie!!!  Jack is talking like crazy!!!  He is constantly babbling away just like I understand every word he is saying and even throwing a couple words I actually do understand in there.  So far, I think we have heard: Mom, Daddy, ddda (dog), juice, what's this, and that.  Those last two are by far his absolute favorite!!!  He even said "Reesha" for the first time the other day as Reesha (our nanny) was leaving!

And Jack is moving like crazy!  He took a few steps (5-6) for the first time on his first birthday and has been steadily been trying it more and more.  For the first time today, he actually chose to walk from one object to the other, still only 6 steps but still awesome!!!  I know he is going to be walking all over the place any day now and then life will be very different!  Unfortunately, Jack is a climber (I lucked out that James wasn't!)  Jack loves to climb onto James's bed... he used to sit right on the edge and have to be caught as he fell off the side but has now learned how to crawl into the middle of the bed before sitting up.  He also knows how to and loves to climb up the two steps in the bathroom so he can stand at the sink and "help me wash my hands!"  Makes going potty much more interesting for Mommy!  And he even got his leg onto the edge of the bathtub yesterday!  Let's just say... don't be surprised if you come over to our house and the bathroom door is closed ALL THE TIME!  Thankfully Jack has learned how to get down from most places feet first, though he still needs a few reminders which makes Mommy a nervous wreck!

Jack and James are playing together so much better lately!  Yeah!!!  It is so wonderful to see them interact and just love on each other!  Jack loves to bang on James's door when he is sleeping because he just wants to play with him.  And James is much more tolerable of Jack when they are playing and doing such a better job of using his words!  (It's about darn time!)  Jack's favorite thing to play with is the big box of balls and has even learned how to dump them over so they go rolling out all over the house!  (Thanks buddy!)  I guess we need to start working on putting them back in!  Jack also loves splashing in the doggie water so it makes a huge mess (not Mommy's favorite activity!)  My favorite thing to see is the boys and their bear hugs... Jack loves to go over to James and lay on top of him and give him a huge bear hug (and James will let him!) and then they both laugh hysterically!  And Mommy's heart fills with joy!!!

Talking about playing... Jack is getting more and more disgruntled about going down for a nap or bed time because he wants to stay up and play!  Thankfully he has a new little Eeyore from Aunt Darsi who is his little bed buddy and Jack just lights up when he sees him!  Jack continues to be a great sleeper other than the little 5am wake up call he does every morning for a clean diaper and a little milk but at least he goes right back to sleep until 7am!

Now for food... this is becoming quite the challenge.  Jack loves certain foods and will gobble them right up but the foods he doesn't like just get thrown on the floor.  When he does this, I take his food away and tell him that he may not throw it on the floor.  At which point, James says, "It's okay Jack" as he leans across the table to give Jack his food!  (Much easier to discipline with one little kiddo!)  Or I will threaten not picking Jack's cup up if he throws it on the floor again... so James does it for him!  I think we will need to have a little conversation with James!!!  The other day, I told Jack that he needed to eat a piece of chicken if he wanted another grape, so he handed the chicken to the dog and asked for another grape!!!  Good try buddy!!!  Jack has decided that he needs to sit at the table for meals just like everyone else so he is sitting in a little booster seat at the table and the high chair is getting ready for Baby Barnabee.  (Michelle's new little one!)  We have recently done the transition from bottle to sippy cup which was seamless and from formula to milk!  I think milk may end up being more expensive than formula since Jack will drink a gallon of milk in 5 days!!!  I think we are going to start pushing more water soon!  Of which Jack loves to drink out of an actual cup (just like everyone else) instead of his sippy cup!  I'm just hoping that potty training and the big boy bed switch will be easy since he wants to do everything his brother does!!!!

Size wise, Jack is still a little peanut in my book!  Last trip to the pediatrician's office around the end of March (I think) had Jack weighing in around 22 lbs!!!  (James was 27lbs at 1 year!)  On average, Jack is usually 35th percentile for height and weight.  He even has little feet!  James has always worn extra wide shoes so I always have to go at the beginning of the season before they are sold out.  I took Jack in the other day to get sandals and his feet are still sliding back and forth in the mediums!!!!  So much for sharing shoes!

I guess that's about all for now.  Just wanted to give a little update since Jack is doing so much more recently and growing up so fast!!!  I have TONS of pictures to go through and add so I will do my best to get those done someday!  Love to all!!
