Winter in Utah!

As many of you already know, we made it safe and sound to Utah yesterday afternoon. It was a long drive, separated by about 4 hours of sleep in a beautiful Motel 6 in good ole Wells, NV. The long drive was made even longer by NO Starbucks for over 300 miles; definitely unheard of for a Californian! But it was worth it when we got here with everything covered in snow and absolutely gorgeous. Mom, Dad, and Douglas arrived a few hours later, just in time for dinner.

Last night I got an early Christmas present from Josh... a Wii!!!!! So, of course, the whole family stayed up way too late last night playing Wii and having a great time! Mom does great with the sound effects, especially when knocking Douglas out in boxing, and we got some great pictures. (Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera cord so I can't put them on the computer yet.)

This morning we woke up to it gradually snowing harder and harder. It's a true winter wonderland! (Thank goodness we drove in yesterday afternoon!) The whole clan drove over to Utah State to do some sledding before lunch. We got lots of great pictures and lots of exercise walking back up all the steps for each trip down the hill. A few highlights...
- Grandma and Grandpa went down the hill 3 times (I want to do that when I'm almost 80!),
- Josh took a while learning how to steer and enjoyed several trips down backwards,
- Douglas throws way too many snowballs (especially at people's faces, including Grandma's),
- Seven of us went down on 5 sleds all holding on to each other,
- AND... no one had to go to the hospital (way to go Josh!).

This afternoon was taken up with games, naps, picture viewing, puzzle doing, and, of course, more Wii! Tomorrow morning we are looking forward to some cross country skiing and more outdoor fun. We'll try to keep everyone posted of our fun here and try to add pictures if I can figure out how.

  1. Scott got me a Wii, too! I got mine for our 5 year anniversary of meeting in November. Be careful... they are quite addicting!
