Hide and Seek

Hide and seek has been a fun new game for James... but he learned one very important lesson concerning the game this weekend... you must inform others that you are playing!  Let me explain... Josh and I went to Josh's Cousin Adam's wedding for the afternoon.  Mom, Uncle Doug, and Aunt Danielle were gracious enough to watch James, Jack, and Jonathan so we could enjoy the wedding.  Mom made fun plans to visit the Heal's Farm in Livermore so the boys could say hi to the chickens, sheep, and pigs!  Poor Jack missed all the excitement because he was exhausted and sleeping away in the house with Madelyn.  James and Jonathan enjoyed the chickens with everyone then they headed down the hill to feed the pigs.... James thought it would be great fun to run ahead of everyone and hide in the trailer in the barn next to the pigs to wait for everyone (and play a fun little game of hide and seek!)  Here entails the problem... no one else knew they were playing hide and seek and proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes looking for a missing James!!!!  After frantically searching all over the 11 acre ranch and along the busy road at the base of the ranch, they finally found James sitting proudly in the trailer in the barn!  He had found an amazing hiding spot much to the concern of the adults!  Thankfully all is well that ends well and the boys learned a very important lesson... Always inform the adults if you are playing hide and seek!
And now two darling stories from Jack this afternoon... All the boys had a wonderful weekend full of lots of playing and lots of fresh air followed by shorter than usual nap in the car on the way home... the perfect recipe for tired, cranky, whinny boys!  Jack was excelling in this department... especially as he sat on the little potty whining and crying that the pee-pee was coming out but the poo-poo wouldn't come out!  (Before anyone gets sympathetic for Jack that he was constipated, he may not have been able to poop because he wasn't pushing or because he was too busy rocking back and forth having a fit to actually poop!)  All I could think of was the adorable pictures of little kids throwing fits because they got the wrong color popsicle or something equally catastrophic!
Due to the excessive whining and crying from Jack and Jonathan, we decided that early bed times were in order.  (Unfortunately, the boys did not agree!)  Jonathan finally fell asleep about an hour and 15 minutes after lying down in his crib.  Thankfully that time was taken up by reading, talking, whining, etc but no actual crying or screaming.  Fingers crossed!  And then there was Jack, he got up numerous times for extremely important things... potty x 2, Daddy needed to lie down, his Spiderman tent over his bed, and my ultimate favorite... "Mommy, my bunny won't wake up!!!!"  (For those of you who aren't aware of the magical bunny... James and Jack both have a bunny light in their room that goes to sleep when they are supposed to be sleeping and wakes up when it's okay for them to get up in the morning.  This theoretically allows mommy to sleep or have quiet time until 6:45 in the morning instead of being graced with a 6am wake up every morning!)  Jack was quite upset that his bunny still wasn't waking up at 8:15 at night to which I reminded him that he needed to close his eyes to go to sleep and his bunny would wake up in the morning.  After an hour or so, Jack has finally gone to sleep!  :-)  We'll see how long it is until he needs to "check on me".  (Last night I was checked on 4 times including a 2am wake up asking if it was morning yet.)
That's all for now... I still have so many cute pictures I want to share but I need to make a picnic lunch and get some things together for tomorrow.  We have gymnastics at 9am followed by fun at the lake with friends at 10am!  Looking forward to it!
