James went on his first (and second) hike last weekend up in Big Trees and Arnold!!! We went up to the cabin with the whole family to enjoy Father's Day and had a great time! We were planning on stopping at 3,000 feet to feed James so his ears would pop before we went up to 4,000 feet but he was sleeping like a champ so we went straight up to the cabin. He had no problems with his ears at all! yeah!!! After a quick play session with Uncle Doug, James ate and went to sleep for 9 1/2 hours!!! Imagine our surprise to wake up and realize it was already 5am and James was still sleeping!!! Saturday afternoon we all (Doug, Derek, Ross, Josh, James, and I) packed into the truck and went up to Big Trees State Park to check out the fishing spots on the river but unfortunately none were up to Josh's standards. James did a great job snuggled up in the Baby Bjorn for the hiking down to the river and back up. Or should I say, mommy did a great job carrying him up and down the trails and almost keeping up with the others! James' second hike was on Sunday when we hiked from the cabin up to an overlook of a waterfall. It was gorgeous and, despite what the neighbors told us, quite a bit of up and down. James and mommy were champs though and made it all the way, including the hiking over rocks at the very end, with lots of help from everyone for stability!!! Overall, we had a great time and look forward to spending lots more weekends at the cabin playing!!!
Now we are trying to get ready physically and mentally for the trek across the country to Maine. I can't wait to be back there again, it has been WAY too long (6 years)!!! And, I can't wait for everyone to meet James and James to meet everyone. It is going to be great fun, especially because he is so smiley and fun right now! I am a little nervous about the plane trip there and back however! I keep imagining the baby who screams the entire trip and the parents can't do anything to quiet the baby down. I am just hoping and praying that James is a good little boy and sleeps most of the flights. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!
Anyway, I guess that's about all for now! We are staying busy as usual on the weekend and I am doing my best to find fun stuff to do during the week also. This week we are working on James taking naps at home (which he is doing very well) so I think I am going to try to catch some zzz's myself!!! Hope everyone is doing well! Love to all!!!

I'm glad to hear that the first cabin experience was good. We are hoping to take Allison up to my parents' cabin as well, but only if she is a good sleeper. When are you going to Maine?
ReplyDeleteWe are leaving on Sunday for one week for Josh and two weeks for James and I. Can't wait!!!
