2 months!!!!

Wow!!!  I can't believe that my little man is already 2 months old!  I think back to his first days home and it seems like such a long time ago and I feel like I have learned so much since then.  When he first came home, I was SOOO thankful to have my parents here to help with James because taking care of James and Jack seemed like an impossibility.  Now I am actually able to get out of the house and be places almost on time!  We have kind of established a routine and a way of doing things though there are times and days when it still seems like an impossibility!  I am so thankful that James is so helpful and such a great little guy because it makes it so much easier on many days!  The other day we were talking about needing to leave soon and that he would need to get his shoes on soon.  Before I knew it, he had run back to his room, pulled his shoes out of his bin, put them on himself, and run back out to the family room!!!  I was so surprised and thankful!!!

A little about what Jack is doing... Jack (knock on wood) has always been a great sleeper at night (minus his first week!)  He wakes up, eats, and goes straight back to bed.  The only times we have had to rock him back to sleep or deal with crying in the middle of the night has actually been closer to 6 or 6:30 am so not technically middle of the night but still a time when I would like to be sleeping!  Right now, Jack will go to sleep around 8-9pm with James, have his first wake up between 2-4:30am, then sleep until 5:30-6:30ish before another feeding.  He used to go back to sleep after this feeding in the swing for a little while but I think he may be outgrowing this which I am really bummed about because I was loving sleeping in until 7:30!!!  I will keep my fingers crossed and do my best to keep the morning sleep!!!  Daytime sleep isn't quite as easy but works well just the same.  Jack is a complete snuggle bug and LOVES to be held and swaddled.  I want to keep swaddling a night-time only event so he knows the difference between daytime and night time sleep so we do daytime naps in the Moby wrap or car seat still.  I am trying to slowly transition to falling asleep in the Moby and transferring to the swing or cradle for the rest of the nap but taking it slowly.  That being said, it's wonderful to have a way to get Jack to fall asleep in 5 minutes where as it took James MUCH longer to fall asleep for naps!  (I must say, I am still jealous of those babies who fall asleep in your arms and you don't even notice!)

Jack is starting to interact more and more which is SO much fun!  He started smiling a few weeks ago and we continue to get more and more smiles every day!  His favorite thing to smile at is his brother!  It is so sweet!!!  I am so looking forward to laughs but am enjoying the smiles for now and trying not to wish away this time!   Jack is also starting to MOVE!!!  He is way too young to do this and I want to pin him to the ground!  I have been putting him down on his back on the play mat and come back a few minutes later to find that he has scooted up a foot or so!  He basically digs his heels into the ground and pushes himself up!  As far as rolling goes, Jack has rolled from his belly to his back a few times but that is only because I will set him down on his belly and propped on his elbows so he only has to tilt is head to the side and his body follows.  Doesn't really count yet!  Jack loves tummy time and often spends most of the time with his head down and just chillin!  I keep reminding him that the point of tummy time is to hold your head up and strengthen his neck muscles which he is starting to get the hang of but he still prefers just lying there!

We made a little trip to the doctor's today for our 2 month checkup and more shots.  :-(  The doctor said that Jack is looking great and growing well!  (We all know that!)  He is 13lbs 2oz and 24 inches long (both 75th percentile) and head circumference is just over 50th percentile.  Poor little man got several shots today which he was NOT fond of!!!  When James got shots he would be upset for a few minutes then be over it for the most part.  Not so with Jack, he has not been happy all day and I keeping my fingers crossed for tonight!

Now for a James update... he is as cute as ever and I love him to pieces!!!  I LOVE that he can communicate so well!!!  He is talking in full sentences now and sometimes more than one sentence at a time. We have also entered the land of "why!?!?!".  Oh what a fun world to live in!!!  It isn't too bad yet but I can only imagine what our future holds!  James comes up with so many cute and wonderful things that he says that I only wish I could remember them all!  I need to make a point of writing them down more quickly so I can remember them and share them.  James loves to run, jump, ride his scooter, watch kids play sports and join them when he can, play at the park, play with his trucks, play basketball in the house with Daddy, play tee ball in the backyard with Daddy, and anything else "boy" that you can  think of!

Just a quick update on our adventures as a family... We spent Memorial Day weekend at the cabin with Gaga, Papa, and Uncle Doug which was awesome!  I remember thinking my mom was crazy for suggesting I nurse James while walking along a nicely paved road in beautiful weather in Maine two years ago... boy was I wrong!  Over Memorial Day weekend we went to Lake Alpine where I nursed Jack while walking along a dirt path in a wooded area with a small amount of snow in the ground and all bundled up because it was 40 degrees out.  This was all fine and dandy until we came to a creek I had to jump over WHILE NURSING!!!!  We successfully made it and Jack was not in the least bothered because he was still getting fed but I think that's where I draw the line!!!  :-)   Oh the differences between the first and second!

This past weekend we went down the Livermore to visit.  We got to catch up with Julia Fischer (my good friend from high school) and her husband on Saturday morning and Alfredo and his wife and daughter in the evening, along with the Pearts and DeEtte too!  It was great to see friends from high school who we hadn't seen in so long!  It really made me realize how long ago high school was and how OLD we have gotten!  I still don't know when I actually became an adult because I don't feel like I have gotten there yet!

Okay, I guess that's about all for this novel!  I guess we have just been busy and there is a lot to write about.  Plus I wanted to do a little update about Jack because I feel like I am always writing about James and Jack is just along for the ride!  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your summer!
