I wrote this nice long, cute story about James and "touchdown" last week and it completely deleted when I went to post it. I was way too tired to re-write it then so I am going to attempt it now...
We all know that football is in Josh's blood... James must have gotten some of that blood from Josh because he LOVES football and is only 17 months old! A few weekends ago, Josh taught James how to put his arms up above his head and say "touchdown!" It was so cute!!! While we were in Avila Beach for Michelle and Gary's wedding, James decided that "touchdown" needed to be used more often than only while watching football. So, James would randomly put his arms above his head and yell "touchdown" and everyone in the room was obligated to do the same. While saying "touchdown", James would look around the room to make sure everyone was joining in. IF, for some ridiculous reason, you chose not to participate, then James would point at you, look you in the eye, and say your name (if he knew it), and repeat "touchdown" so that you could participate that time. It was quite cute, though we did have to curb some of the "touchdowns" while out to dinner in a large group as to not disturb the entire restaurant and allow people the chance to eat.
When we got home and James returned to daycare, he was able to further demonstrate his love for football. As Desiree tells me... she was taking him upstairs for his nap when he happened to get a glance of Anthony's new "man cave" and immediately started saying "ball" and pointing to go in the room. Anthony's new room was all decked out in Raiders gear and memorabilia which James loved! He was saying "ball" and "touchdown" and had a look of complete awe and amazement according to Desiree! It's amazing to me how such a little man can understand and love something like that so young! Now, we just have to work on teaching him the correct teams to root for!!!! (Though I do remember asking Josh one time, "Why do you go to so many Raiders' games when you are a Niners' fan?" His response, "It doesn't matter what team it is, I just want to watch football.") I think we have another football fan on the way!!!!
