Sitting Up

James is getting so close to sitting up by himself!!!! If you prop him up just right and he doesn't go lunging for something he can usually sit up for about 10 seconds. Then, when I was at work today, Daddy and G-ma said that he sat up for almost a minute by himself. I got to see a little of the action tonight when he played with is new, cool piano/xylaphone from Lucas (across the street) and sat up for a few minutes while playing. He needed a little help occassionally to prevent the faceplant or timber move but he was doing so well. People, I think we may have a sitter in the next few days. And not too long after that we are going to have a crawler... he can scoot backwards now and can rock up onto his knees occassionally. He scoots across his crib but not for us during the day yet!

Talking about his crib, Josh lowered it to the middle setting today. It was probably a little early but he was chewing on the top of the bumper, sucking on the mobile arm, grabbing onto and kicking the mobile, and about to knock the video monitor off the side of the crib. We decided we would just play it safe and move the mattress down now before James surprises us with some amazing new move in the middle of the night! He is growing up so fast!!!

James is so much fun to play with! He is doing a great job taking naps during the day and sleeping about 10-11 hours at night so he has lots of happy energy during the day for us all to enjoy! He is a great smiler, loves laughing, and is a big flirt!

James is also quite the eater! He is now eating peaches, plums, bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes, carrots, and oatmeal. He definitely prefers the fruits to the veggies but will gladly take any food and help himself to yours as well if you let him. Unfortunately, the eating process is not usually a clean one but I am told it rarely is with babies!

Quick size update... James has grown another inch this month and is now measuring a whopping 28 inches (97th percentile) but is still weighing in at about 16 pounds (about 47th percentile). I guess all his energy this month went into growing bone to get longer. Don't worry, he still has plenty of chins and rolls in his little legs! We decided to bust out the 9 month clothes this past week. Some of them are still a little big on him but some of them fit quite well, especially with the cloth diapers on!

Guess that's about all for now. As always, I have some cute pictures to add but have to find the time to do so. Hopefully it will be soon! Love to all!!
