Sleep training

I have known the past few weeks that sleep training for Jack is coming soon and I have been dreading it!!!  I think I finally figured out why... when James was tired, he would scream no matter where he was, in our arms or in the crib, so I didn't feel as bad about letting him cry it out.  And, James was about 6 weeks older when we started because I didn't have to go back to work as early.  Since I have to go back to work (boo-hoo) in a month, I decided it was time to start some sleep training with Jack.  Until a week or two ago, a majority of Jack's naps were in the carseat or on me.  I loved snuggling with him but he is starting to get a little too heavy (according to my back!) to carry around for hours a day (especially when I am not allowed to sit down!)  I really didn't want to do cry it out with Jack at this point because he is so much younger than James was and because he will stop crying immediately if I pick him up.  I talked to the moms in group yesterday and got some ideas for sleep training.  I was definitely skeptical at first but decided to give it a try today since Josh was hope to help if need be.  After lots of restarting the mobile, a couple trips in to calm him down, and a few repetitions of "Twinkle, Twinkle", I have a sleeping baby!!!!  I wish I could say the same about James who is still playing in his bed, but he will get there eventually! (I hope!)  Now I just have to find the courage and energy to keep this up for the next few weeks.  (And secretly, or not so secretly, hope that there are still some times that Jack needs to sleep away from his crib so I can still enjoy snuggling with him during a nap!)

Unfortunately, the morning activity didn't go as smoothly.  We had an appointment for the boys to take some darling brother pictures.  Udder fail!!!  There were way too many cool toys in the room for James to sit still long enough (plus he was just having a difficult time listening this morning!) and Jack was way too tired to be moved from Mommy's arms because he didn't have a morning nap.  We got some cute ones of James by himself (and some cute ones of Jack by himself yesterday) but the brother picture just wasn't going to happen today!  Maybe we will try again in a week or two!

Quick size update: Jack weighed in around 14lbs. 12oz. fully clothed yesterday!  A little bigger than I was expecting but a complete cutie pa-tootie none the less!
