What a day!!! Let's see... to start... Jack woke up three times last night (a little tougher than his usual 2) but at least he went right back to sleep each time! So Mommy was a little more tired than usual this morning. Then James woke up at 6:15 (after falling asleep at 9:45 last night - he was in bed at 8:30 but it just took a little while!) calling for Daddy. I told him that Daddy was at work and he needed to go back to sleep but had a feeling that it wasn't going to happen because he looked wide awake! Well, at 6:40 I decided to let him lay in bed with me and watch Mickey Mouse. That lasted until 7:15 when Jack woke up. James started the morning with hitting and spitting so I informed him that we were going to have a good day and he was NOT going to do those things. Thankfully it got better!
We got out of the house by 9am for a trip to the grocery store. I put them both in the stroller and headed in but James wanted to get out and walk next to me. I let him and he was being a great helper with putting things in the stroller for me. Suddenly Jack started screaming so I decided to put him in the Moby wrap and James decided that this would be a good time to run amuck! I asked him to hold onto the stroller while Mommy was getting Jack situated so he held onto it and started pushing it across the store. Since both my hands were busy trying to get Jack situated, I had to use my foot to stop James! At this point I look up to see two ladies walking by and laughing at me! I can only hope that they were laughing due to similar memories! I finally got James settled long enough to get Jack in the Moby wrap and quiet then we were off again with an EMPTY double stroller! Sure am glad I made sure to get the double stroller and lug it into the store. I do have to say that James did a great job of getting things off the shelf and putting them in the cart for me and then taking them from the stroller and putting them on the conveyor belt at the check out! Thanks buddy! We made a quick run home to drop the groceries in the outside frig and then headed to the outlets to meet up with Cousin Andrea and Cousin Grace.
Jack was STARVING by this point because he had gone an entire hour and 15 minutes without eating!!! So I got James in the stroller and Jack eating and headed into the store. I must say that James did a great job of sitting at the lego table playing (with some direction and assistance from Mom) while Jack ate and ate and ate!
Once we got home, Jack was again STARVING because he hadn't eaten in 30 minutes (I know, starving my child!) We played with Andrea and Grace for a little while then had a little lunch. By this time James was getting very tired because of the early wake up so we decided to do an early nap after lunch. This resulted in a slight meltdown but tolerable. (BTW, Jack is still eating!!!) Once we got into bed, James decided he had to go potty, then back to bed, and the phone rang (made me realize that there was a phone in the office, aka James's make shift room) but I didn't make it to the phone in time. Just as I was about to leave James's room, the man from Scott's Lawn Service rang the bell so James wanted to see who was there and watch him fertilize the grass. Finally I got James back in bed and Captain in the house when the mail man dropped a package on the front porch which meant Captain went ballistic and James was once again at the door wanting to know what was going on! Finally got James back in his room and Jack quiet again because he was eating again!
Got to call my friend back and have a nice chat with her while ignoring James yelling for me! After our chat, Jack was finally quiet so I was going to play with him when James started yelling for me again, turns out he has a poopy diaper so he wants to sit on the potty again! He is very frustrated that he can't go poo-poo (because he already went in his diaper) and wants to keep trying and trying and trying! By this time Jack is screaming again and wants to eat again because he is of course STARVING (it's been a whopping 10 minutes since he had eaten!) James decides that this is a good time to go running off and hide under the clothes in my closet with a slightly poopy butt. Once I get him back to bed, I have to put Jack down to change James's diaper which results in both kids screaming!!!! I think this would have been the best time for Mommy to start crying too! Finally decided to just leave James screaming in the bed (after his diaper and clothes were on of course) and feed Jack again! James's screaming only lasted a few minutes then he was quiet so I figured he was asleep. After I got Jack to sleep, I decided to sneak in James's room to check on him (monitor is broken so can't use that!) and he was still awake so I laid down with him for a few minutes and read him a book. I left just in time for Jack to start crying again! Finally decided to just put Jack in the Moby wrap so I could maybe get a little food in me, it was 2pm after all! Ugh!
Life is much better now! James is sleeping peacefully in his bed. Jack is sleeping peacefully in the Moby wrap. Mommy has a full belly and is resting comfortably on the couch. Only draw back is Jack's poopy diaper but there is NO WAY I am going to wake this baby to change a diaper! I guess all I can say is welcome to life with 2 children!!!! If I have learned anything from being a parent... I will just figure out how to manage everything when one of them will change and I will have to learn something new again!
