As if we don't have enough going on in this household.... we think we may have a leak in the roof! We had been smelling a musty odor in James's room for about a week and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Josh moved the bed and dresser one night to see if there was anything behind them but nothing. Then last Monday, I lied down in bed with James to say goodnight and looked up... on the ceiling was a huge water spot! We found our source but weren't happy about it!
This is when the fun started... Josh decided to go up in the attic to see what was going on up there. That meant there was a huge ladder in the middle of our closet that I had to keep James away from (because he LOVES to climb ladders!), I had to move James's mattress and all his sleeping stuff into Jack's room (then the office because James changed his mind), I had to try to get James to go to sleep, Josh was banging on the ceiling from the attic asking where am I now, Josh was asking me to throw things to him up in the attic, and throughout all of this, Jack decided that now would be a good time to start a growth spurt!!! Let's just say it was a little hectic and I asked myself several times how we got to this place!
Josh thinks the cause of the huge spot is a roof leak so we decided to file a homeowner's claim. The water restoration people came by on Wednesday to cut a huge hole in the ceiling and wall to remove the damaged sheet rock but were unable to determine the cause. They then left a huge de-humidifier and fan in the room to dry out the wood with a tube running across the hallway and into the bathroom sink to drain the water. Those machines were picked up on Friday during James's birthday party (as if 7 adults and 13 children at the house wasn't busy enough!). Now we have the homeowner's insurance field agent and a roofer coming tomorrow to further assess the situation. Let's just say that James has been an angel about sleeping on his mattress on the floor in the office for the past week and hopefully will continue to be great about it for the next week or two until everything is fixed! Fun times!!!
