A few cute stories that I keep meaning to write down...
- James's new favorite phrase, "It's okay Mommy!" "Don't worry Mommy!" This often comes after he does something questionable! Such a sweetie!
- We played Memory today and he did great!!! Other than guiding him through the turn taking process of it and a little strategy (don't turn over the ones you already know unless you know the match), he did fabulous!!! His memory amazes me!!!
- I was tired of James's having accidents and having to trick him into using the potty so I put him back in diapers on Saturday and took away all of his "poo-poo prizes". I was SOOO INCREDIBLY SAD about this but felt that it was best. Right now James seems to be quite happy in the diapers and I can only hope that he will get tired of them someday and suddenly decide to use the potty. Fingers crossed! Right now when I change a poopy diaper I honestly show my emotions about it being yucky (not exaggerated but not hidden either) and James will say "Sorry Mommy." So sweet, kind of sad, but hopefully it will help him decide to use the potty at some point!
- Today during James's nap (aka afternoon resting time in his room), Jack woke up from his nap so James called to me... "Mommy, Jack is waking up!" So sweet again!
- Yesterday's nap time wasn't as sweet... It went something like this... Jack didn't want to take a nap so he was screaming in his crib, James didn't want to take a nap so he was standing on the edge of his bed frame yelling at Jack to stop crying, and I was locking in my room with the TV on (trying to drown out the noise) eating cake for lunch and wishing I could sleep! One of those wonderful motherhood moments but thankfully Jack fell asleep, James settled down and read some books until quiet time was over, and I survived!
- Jack is moving more and more... No crawling yet but he can rocking on his hands and knees, spin around, roll over, and scoot backwards! The crawling is coming any day now I think, I just hope that he doesn't decide to start on a day I am at work. Jack is also getting better and better at sitting. He is still prop sitting for the most part but he is getting better at it and can sit longer and longer. Jack is also becoming more and more interested in his environment and reaching for more. Tonight at dinner he almost pulled the lid off the fish bowl and started dumping the chips out before he decided to just bang on the bag to crunch them instead!
- Jack is completely and totally in love with his big brother. If Jack isn't happy, all James has to do it talk to him and the world is right again! So wonderful to see! James doesn't mind giving Jack a baby toy or occasionally sharing one of his toys with him but James gets to choose which toy. Life is going to get interesting when Jack starts moving and choosing the toy for himself!!!
- Jack is sleeping through the night... finally! I decided last week that the night time visits had become purely visits and not nutritive feeds which meant that they were no longer needed. After 2 nights of not being terribly sold on the idea, Jack got over it and has been sleeping 11-13 hours at night! And Mommy is loving sleeping in longer than 2 hour segments!!!!
- Jack is also starting to eat a lot more! He is now eating rice cereal, oatmeal, bananas, and sweet potatoes. We are planning on starting summer squash on Saturday. This week Jack has been eating oatmeal and bananas for breakfast (about an inch of banana) and rice cereal with sweet potatoes (2 ice cubes) for dinner. Last night I got the sweet potatoes defrosted and ready for Jack on the table while I finished making dinner for everyone else. Surprisingly, James decided that Jack's sweet potatoes were going to be his little appetizer and ate all of Jack's sweet potatoes before Jack ever got to dinner! Oh yeah, and this whole eating thing, is MESSY!!!! Jack will still suck his fingers after each bite to help swallow and in the process makes a MESS!!!
I know there are a bunch of other cute things that James has said over the past few weeks that I want to write down but I can't remember them at the moment. I will write them down if I remember, otherwise I will just try to write the new things down before I forget them too!
Hope everyone is doing well! Love to all!!!
