Happy Birthday Joshie!!!!

Happy 30th Birthday Joshie!!!!  Unfortunately, today wasn't a particularly fun birthday for Josh.  We continued to stay quarantined for one more day before returning to normal life tomorrow and we all had a little cabin fever!  At one point this afternoon, we had both boys screaming as they were trying to fall asleep for a nap so we just stood there and laughed.  A few minutes later we were enjoying the sweet sound of silence as both boys had fallen asleep simultaneously.  Unfortunately, it only lasted about 3 minutes before Jack was awake and screaming again!  Oh joy!  All I can say is that I am so immensly grateful that Josh was hope today otherwise I think we would have ALL gone insane!!!!

A few cute stories from today...

- This morning Josh was trying to get a few things done for work and I was feeling horrible and trying to take care of Jack so James was left to play by himself for a while.  This eventually led to some mischief and James was looking for attention.  He ended up in timeout for something and I headed off to put Jack down for a nap.  As I was leaving the room, I told James that I would give him attention when I got back.  Well, when I got back to the room, he came over to me and stuck his behind out and said, "Give me attention."  I think he thought he was going to get a spanking!  It made me kind of sad because I have only spanked James two or three times but I guess they made an impression.  I explained that he didn't need a spanking and that I was going to play with him and give him attention.  It was so cute but so sad too!

- Josh and I decided a few days ago that it would probably be much cheaper to buy the movies Cars 2 and The Muppets (James's two favorites) instead of renting them a ton of times from Redbox.  We decided that they would make great potty training prizes; one for 10 poo-poos and one for a full day of clean and dry undies.  This evening James got 5 stickers which usually means a new truck.  We brought the box of poo-poo prizes down (with no trucks left) and told him he can choose one of those for 5 stickers or he can wait and get a movie for 10 stickers.  I showed him online which movies I had ordered.  He decided to wait for the 10 stickers to get a movie.  I must say, I was kind of impressed that he decided to wait for the delayed gratification instead of choosing something from the box right then.  A few minutes later the UPS man pulled up... and you should have seen James go crazy!!!!  He started yelling and dancing around the house, "my movies, my movies!!!"  It was so cute to see!!!!!

- As we sat down for a very fancy pizza dinner tonight, Josh put Jack in the high chair but we fully intended on having to hold him during dinner because he had decided to be "high-maintenance" tonight.  Well, lo and behold, Jack was perfectly fine sitting in his high chair and started laughing hysterically when James would say "Bah!"  It was absolutely priceless to see Jack get so much joy from something so little that his brother did!  And it again made me so excited to watch the boys grow up together and see them interact more and more each day!

- For dessert, we had Jello jigglers!!!!  James had found a box of Jello in the pantry earlier today and asked to make it.  I decided that we would make jigglers instead of regular jello.  Good choice!  It was so much fun to cut out different shapes and play with them before eating them.  Josh, James, and I ate almost an entire package of Jello tonight!  (Don't worry, we saved a little for dessert tomorrow too!)

- Jack rolled over back to belly tonight!!!!  Last night he was so close but his arm kept getting in the way.  Tonight he had rolled onto his side when the UPS truck arrived, all of our attention turned to James and his crazy excitement and when we turned back around Jack was on his belly.  I looked at Josh and asked if he did that and I said I didn't either so Jack must have done it on his own!!!  Sorry we missed it buddy!  Luckily, he rolled a few more times tonight that we were able to see!  It's so much fun to have a little man that is more interactive and active though I know I will be eating my words in a few months!

- James amazed me again tonight with his awesome memory!  As we were laying in bed saying good night, he asked where Gaga was.  I explained that she was in Arnold but we may get to see her on Friday night after she takes her friend to the airport.  James then asked if he was going to get to see Karen!  Karen is my mom's friend who is visiting with mom at the cabin this week.  James met her once yesterday for about 10 minutes (if that) and Karen never got out of the car.  I was shocked that James had remembered her name!!!!

- One more proud Mommy moment... we have been watching Leap Frog Letter Factory because it was HIGHLY recommended by many of our friends to help with learning letters and their sounds.  We have watched it a handful of times and already James knows so many letters and their sounds!  Occassionally we will talk about the beginning letter of a word, today we were talking about the word "boo" so I emphasized the first letter and James told us that it was a "b".  It was so cute the way he non-chalantlly said it like "duh Mom!"

- James has also learned how important intonation is with communication.  At least that is my positive view of James talking like Curious George!  James LOVES Curious George right now and so he is constantly talking like him with means no words only grunts with different intonations.  So annoying for me!!!!  I am constantly having to remind James that he is a boy who uses words and not a MONKEY!  So, until James remembers that he is a boy who needs to use his words instead of a monkey, the Curious George video is in timeout!!!!  Though, I must say that, James is able to communicate his wants quite well with intonation only!

Okay, I think that has to be all for now.  I am in deep mourning and complete denial that I am going back to work tomorrow morning but considering the fact that I must be in bed in one hour and need to get all our stuff ready for work before then, I best get going.  I have never gotten the boys out of the house by 7am like I need to tomorrow so wish me luck!!!!  Ahhh!!!!!!
